Hello Glas-ton-berry!

Two years ago we went to the wettest Glastonbury Festival on record. Last weekend we again went to the wettest Glastonbury Festival on record - Monday was supposedly the wettest June day on record in Britain. I reckon the only way it could be wetter is if global warming causes the sea levels to rise and the entire farm ends up under the ocean. Even then, I bet the Pyramid Stage would still run to schedule, and the 150,000 participants would still say it was the Best. Festival. Ever.
Highlights included The Killers, Lily Allen, Mika, The Cat Empire, The Kaiser Chiefs, Björk, hot spiced cider, the wide variety of tasty foods on offer, and the wide variety of odd people to point at and laugh. Lowlights included crap sound during The Killers, Shirley Bassey not doing History Repeating, possibly the worst B-boy posse I have ever seen, the seemingly endless search for a giant Yorkshire Pudding (and finally finding one right next to the main stage) and packing up our tent, walking to the exit and waiting for a bus for an hour and a half in apocalyptic rain.
The Who performed last, and they did all their greatest hits; the theme from C.S.I., the theme from C.S.I. New York and, not to disappoint, a kick-arse version of the theme from C.S.I. Miami (although that particular song is much less fun when not preceded by a profound quote from Horatio - click here if you don't know what I mean).
As far as contemporary British cultural experiences go, this has to be the pinnacle. It has everything: it's expensive, it rains the whole time, you are constantly queueing, it's full of Australians, most people drink too much and it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Daryl forgot to mention that we had the best nachos ever on Sunday (they had proper tortilla chips, beef chilli with beans, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, cheese and jalapenos).
AND, one of my musical highlights was seeing Biggles and his Wartime Band on Thursday - definite entertainers!
